Term 4 Week 5
This week we celebrated NAIDOC week. NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each year to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life. The week is a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support your local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. We celebrated through craft and special interest tables that were set up to allow for conversation, experimentation and to provide the children with an opportunity to immerse themselves in some small parts of the indigenous culture of Australia and the Torres Strait Islands. We had painting, basket weaving, crafts, and learnt about some basic symbols that could be used in artworks.
