Our program

Is your child the next Lego master? The next goal keeper for the Jets or Samsung Diamonds? Does your child embrace art and craft in a way that far exceeds your home craft supplies? Or do you have a child that enjoys a bit of quiet time in their down time? We understand that children are different and want different things from their before and after school care. With this in mind we make sure there are a wide and diverse range of activities and experiences on offer in each session.

We also provide many opportunities for our children to develop socially through structured activities and sports, free play or even our very social meal times. Social skills are important life skills and our inclusive environment, combined with the programs we offer, afford our children an excellent opportunity to develop those skills in an organic way.

In support of our children’s general education and personal growth we offer child-lead, interest-based activities. These offer chances for safe risk taking and exploration as well as the development of problem solving and leadership skills, independent thinking and decision making. Individuality is embraced and encouraged in our centres, helping our children develop to their full potential.

Food

Food is important here at NLDOOSH and mealtimes are social occasions where we all get together in a relaxed atmosphere, chat about our day and nourish our bodies. We also believe that good nutrition is crucial, particularly for children, so we have a dedicated Food Officer who designs and prepares our menus.

Alison designs our menus to provide nutritious and varied food options in a way that promotes enjoyment of many different foods. We also use positive examples and education to encourage our children to develop good eating and hygiene practices that hopefully translate into lifelong healthy habits.

Caring for children with medical conditions or food allergies

The depth of experience and knowledge of our staff ensures we have excellent systems and processes in place. It’s this experience and knowledge that guarantees appropriate care is available for all children, including those with medical conditions or food allergies. If your child has a medical condition or food allergy, we will have appropriate processes in place to ensure they are kept safe and their needs are accommodated.

Does your child have a medical condition or food allergy?

The first step in ensuring their care with us is identifying their special needs or dietary requirements on your New Family Enrolment Form, during the enrolment process. Prior to your child’s first session with us we will contact you to discuss their care in detail.

Diversity and inclusivity

Diversity is welcomed and celebrated in our centres. Our children, and staff, enjoy learning about different cultures and belief systems. We welcome families from all backgrounds and beliefs and encourage our families to share their religious and cultural observations and celebrations with us.

Fees

NLDOOSH is a not-for-profit organisation. Our Management Committee and staff ensure our service is high quality and provides the best affordable care for our families. We are also approved to offer Child Care Subsidy to all families who are assessed and approved by the Department of Human Services.

Our fees for the following year are set by the NLDOOSH Management Committee and published on our website in term 4 each year. Each family is required to pay a registration fee per child each year in addition to payments for care and there may be charges for other activities such as the provision of breakfast or excursions.
